These filters seem quite good.

After replacing a blower on my furnace a couple months ago because (supposedly) of using cheaper filters, I plan to continue to get these more expensive ones. We also have cats and dogs and the furnace guy/repairman said these were better.
Not happy about the more expensive filters but cheaper than getting a new blower again…and Amazon makes it easy. Price was good. Quick and easy shipping process per usual from Amazon (I love that).

We use quite a few of these each year at the office where I work. They’re a pretty nice filter that puts out cleaner air that the cheap-o bargain basement filters that cost about half as much. To me, air quality is worth spending additional money on, since you can’t grow new lungs. These are indeed 6-packs, so buy accordingly. Amazon sells them cheaper than the big box stores and ships them free, so you can’t go wrong here. Recommended.

My son has Asthma, and my mother has COPD, we have a cat, and the filtrete filters help make it possible for us to get together at our home, without triggering respiratory problems for anyone. They are a bit more expensive, but they also last 3 times as long without needing to be changed. 3M Has an awesome series of furnace filters, in the Filtrete Line

Protect Your Home With Filtrete Air Filters

It is important that you consider purchasing filtrete air filters when you are getting ready to close up your home for the winter months. Why do you need filtrete air filters at this particular time of the year?

Well, unfortunately, there are wide selections of sources that contribute to the poor air quality within your home. In order to ensure that you and the members of your family remain as healthy as possible, air filters are a must-have.

In this article, I am going to discuss these sources and you will discover that some of them are surprising and some are unavoidable. Did you know that cooking can contribute to polluting the air within your home?

When you cook on your stove or oven, combustion occurs which is a source of air pollution and the byproducts of the cooking process itself can actually cause pollutants to build up within the air. You can avoid this issue by purchasing filtrete air filters for your air purification system.

Another surprising factor source of air pollutants within the home that many people are not aware of is the off-gas pollutants that come from processed wood products. In fact, your cabinetry, furniture and your home’s building materials themselves are oftentimes the culprit that is causing the air to be contaminated inside of your residence.

Remember, the only way to avoid this type of indoor air pollution is to use filtrete air filters on a daily basis while it is cold outside.

There are also sporadic sources of pollution that are common in homes worldwide; these sources can be contributed to the use of cleaning fluids, personal care items such as hairspray and perfume, candles, fireplace smoke and the use of other household chemicals.

Using filtrete air filters will allow you to get rid of the high concentration of foreign particles after you are done with these types of activities or stop using the previously mentioned products.

There are some simple steps that you can follow in order to ensure that you are doing your part when it comes to keeping the air within your home clean and pure. Filtrete air filters are a great tool to use, but in order to maximize the potential of these particular filters, there are some things that you can also do on a consistent basis.

Step 1:
Be aware of energy efficiency and comfort! What I mean by this is during the colder months, it is important to open up your home and allow some fresh outdoor air to circulate because your house needs to “breathe as much as you do!”

Step 2:
Take some time to check all of the appliances, especially the stove and furnace to see if they are properly adjusted, clean and well vented. On top of using filtrete air filters, you can install and use exhaust fans in the kitchen, bathroom and hobby areas of your home. Remember to have a professional come out to your home at least once per year to inspect your combustible appliances.

Step 3:

Keep candle-burning and fireplace use to a minimum during the winter months. In addition, make sure your fireplace is clean, adjusted and that it is being used properly. If at all possible, the best option is to switch to a gas burning or electric fireplace as this will completely diminish the presence of air pollutants from these sources.

Keep in mind, filtrete air filters should typically be replaced every three to four months, but if you are consciously attempting to cut back on the amount of pollutants that present themselves in your home by following the above mentioned steps, you may be able to use the same filtrete air filter a tad bit longer.

Do all forced air furnace have a cover for the filter?

we just replaced our old furnace, which had a filter cover. The guy who installed it says this furnace does not need a filter cover. This makes no sense to me since this would seem to defeat the purpose of the filter as dust etc. from the air would be able to bypass the filter.

Our new furnace is an American Standard 80% 80,0000 BTU furnace.

My home air filters for my HVAC unit are so noisy!?

I have 3 air filters in my home, all ceiling installed. I have tried replacing them but it doesn’t help. They make thumping noises when the air starts or stops and they also make odd cracking noises. I am pretty sure they are installed correctly (arrow pointing up towards ceiling). Does anyone have suggestions on how to make these less noisy?
